Research oriented school selection

Mcat 512(balanced) sgpa 3.82, cgpa 3.86
Ecs,
Research 2000 Hours ( 7 Semesters)
Leader ship hours 700 hours
Clinical volunteering 550 Hours
non clinical volunteering 350 Hours

I have seen in sdn that research heavy schools are the ones with High mcat medians. Although my Research hours and content are good, My mcat cannot match the top schools.

Suggest me the schools which are research heavy. If I am going thru MSAR what should I look for with my stats. 25th percentile or 10th percentile.

Suggest me ideas to find research heavy schools.

512 isn’t really competitive for any of the research powerhouses. With a 512, you need to just worry about getting, not where you do get in. Set the MSAR range from 510 to 514.

You are competitive for the following. It's up to you to find out how good they are in research. MSAR can tell you how much they get ion NIH funding though. Don't be surprised that more of the school son the list are service or mission heavy schools.

That is an exceptional amount of EC hours. You were consistently involved in extracurriculars ~20 hrs/wk throughout the school year and summer?

Lab alone is 12-15 hours a week for many undergrads. Add in a weekly 4 hour volunteer shift, meetings for student orgs—20 hours a week is hardly exceptional IMO.

Let’s see, 10 hours in lab, 10 hours at work...that is 20 hours a week without the tutoring, volunteering, hobby’s, orgs and clubs...lol yah, 20 hours a week of ECs is EASY to reach. By no means required, but completely easy to get up to. Many reach twenty hours or many many more just with needing a job.

One summer I prepared for MCAT did not work or volunteer. In total close to 3500 hours in 3.5 years. It is turning out to be 1000 hours per year meaning 20 hours per week. Agreed it may not be exceptional but at the same time doing over consistently for 3.5 years and maintaining good gpa needs significant commitment to the activities.

No, it is definitely exceptional as it is far more time than most premeds dedicate towards ECs. But it is still easy to achieve
