I have some very empressive research experience that involves bionanotechnology with a publication in a leading nanotech/chemistry journal.

My PI is internationally reknowned as one of the top scientists in his field and received millions from NIH.

What schools pride themselves on molding research physicians? Which schools really appreciate applicants with successful research experience?

Good luck Class of '14 :luck:

I'm not sure any schools really go after the empressive research experience, most prefer impressive experience 😉

All schools like research. You defiently will have advantage everywhere. But some big names (Harvard, Yale, NYU, Cornell etc) are known for training research physicians; they espeically encourage their students to conduct research during med school.

I'll have to see about the ol' MCAT before attempting Harvard or Yale.

Thanks!

Most of the US News and World Report top-ranked schools are heavy research schools (maybe with the exception of UofWash?). But honestly, any school with strong research would help you reach your goal. If you want to continue in nanotech stuff though, you might need to scour some websites to see which schools have that type of research going on.

On a sidenote, it's neat to see other folks interesting in nanotech. My entire senior thesis was on nanotoxicology in vivo and in vitro. Maybe the interesting line of research will help us in the admissions game!

CCLCM, maybe.
Make that a definitely, not a maybe. 😉

FeatherPen, if your research accomplishments are as good as you've said, and you also have good clinical experience and community service, you really should consider applying to CCLCM. Especially because you're planning to apply to Case anyway.

Thanks. I'm feeling kind of bad about being so behind with posting my third year entries about my rotations. I have dozens of drafts written, but my inner perfectionist won't let me post them like that. 😳

I really appreciate the feedback, especially about CCLCM. I will check up on the school and likely apply. Thanks!
