Hi,

wondering about how to approach research experience for those schools that aren't research oriented.

I ask because being a good "fit" for a school is considered really important. Do you generally leave your research-related answers on, say, secondary questions off completely as a result? ie. is research considered 'bad' in terms of fit if you are not at a research-oriented school?

I don't think having research experience will ever be considered bad by anyone. Research is how medicine progresses, and it's important that the school knows you know that. Also, it's a pretty useful experience in general. So perhaps don't wax poetic about how much you love research , but acknowledge that you have done it, that you have found it worthwhile, etc. The school in question WILL at some point ask you why you applied... you probably have a good reason for it, one that doesn't have to include research in the answer.
