I am new to the pre-med/biology field and would like to gain a research position. I would guess higher level students obtain these positions. However, I was wondering if anyone could tell me the requirements to gain a position as a researcher at a lab. Also. how to apply for these positions that I hear students talking about?

11 new threads out of 48 total posts?

Methinks you should figure out how to search SDN and Google

go talk to professors in the department you would like to research.

it wouldn't hurt to read up on some of their pubs before hand

1. Ability to use the search function
2. Common Sense
3. Common Sense
4. Did I remember to mention common sense?

You don't know the difference between there and their. You also have trouble distinguishing between your and you're. You use the "you aren't going to be a good doctor" nonsense insult, albeit indirectly. Your threads are really bad and post questions that have been asked many times already.

You shouldn't try to be patronizing when you seem to be rather clueless.

Also, it's methinks, not "me thinks". How do you get it wrong when you're quoting it?

I have such a good retort against this... But I'm not going to say it because it's too mean. :meanie:

Oh! I'm sorry didn't know we were in a grammar lesson right now. I'm also new here! Your not really helping new pre-med students... I can see why doctors have such a bad rep-because of people like you! My friend also post's questions on here (wants to go pre-med but w/o a computer, I let him use my computer when he comes over-we are from a poorer side of town) Guess you wouldn't know how that is because you probably grew up on mommy or daddy's dime. But there are people out there like me and my friend that have to fight for what we have. We grew up in a public high school that was sh**...so instead of bad mouthing people that want to change their lives for the good how about helping them out!!!

ya cause you know, you're such a pleasant person and you obviously tried really hard to look for information before posting questions that have been rehashed a thousand times. I'm definitely interested in helping you.

If you're new, you should take the time to learn forum etiquette and practice using the search function. Newsflash: plenty of people have terrible lives and many are in worse situations than yours. "mommy and daddy's dime" Because you're a self made man aren't you?

We don't owe you anything. Also, it would be a good idea to learn the proper use of apostrophes before you start filling out applications.

Dem tough streets must have been really hard...

And just because someone's a doctor doesn't meant that everyone's entitled to their care. Especially ignoramuses.

Well i'm sorry! But, if people dont want to help than don't post on this thread, go onto the next one instead of bad mouthing people. There are people that want to help and ive met some really nice people on here that are informative. We dont need "forum police" on here. Thanks for the talk and hope you have a great night 🙂

I think they're just trying to say 'Try and use the search button before you post on here'.

Honestly, reading the same questions over and over again can become extremely tedious. Don't take it to heart. Once you have been on here a little while you will also see this.

Thanks AymAyzing, I think i've made up my mind to just ask the MD's from my ER and use the search button on here. No more posting on here-You'll got your wish! Thought I could meet some good pre-med students on here and have them help me out.
Goodluck in the future AymAyzing hope all your dreams come true! 🙂

Nobody is telling you not to post, just use posting as a last resort, not a first. This is an awesome website to use for information, don't give up on us yet!! 🙂

Your question is a common one to new premeds. When I was a freshman, I literally emailed every professor in my department of interest asking if they had an opening in their lab. Mention a little interest in their research subject matter, offer them your resume, hope for replies.

Alternatively, you could approach the profs in your science courses and ask them about their research, show some interest, then pop the question. If they don't have an opening, maybe they know someone who does and can set you up with something. I've done this before too but personally had no success with it.

And lastly, dude, you're new here. Lose the attitude, cos it's not endearing you to anyone on this forum.

Just out of curiosity, is English not your first language?
