There are a lot of undergraduate research programs for the summer but are there any programs like that for winter break (something in January)? Thanks

I have never heard of any nor do I think any exist. You would essentially do testing for a week, have a week off for Christmas, then collect results the next week/finish off experiments the week after Christmas. Ultimately, you would have a few days to write your paper and present the poster to a school that has nobody there since it would be a break with absolutely no classes going on.

I could be wrong, but this just doesn't seem like enough time to come up with a hypothesis, test, write a meaningful paper, and adequately present your findings to the scientific community. A project that small will probably be completed in the course of another larger experiment during the semester.

To reiterate, most research programs are conducted during the summer. however, if you are part of a lab, your PI can allow you do do a few things or maybe even meet, thus letting you do research and log a few things.

There is not enough time during winter break to start a new research project, gather data, and produce a final product. However, you may be able to find a workshop or conference that you could get involved in. La Presse also alluded to continuing a research project you already started, which is another option.

Best coating to put on your sled to go down a hill the fastest... hmmm... I remember silicone spray working pretty well.

2+ sleds, one a control, the rest a different coating (teflon, silicone, wd-40, etc)

make hypothesis

sled down hill

prove/disprove hypothesis

You could try to meet with a PI now and talk about the possibility of doing a meta-analysis. The literature review and the majority of the manuscript writing could be completed over the course of a winter break if you work really hard.
