I recently finished a MPH and one of my classes required that we do a dental public health program. I did a small research program on smoking cessation and ways for dentists to be more involved in helping patients quit. I did not have anything officially published. I am wondering if I can safely consider this "research" under the application, or if schools will just laugh at it. any input is appreciated!

In my opinion, research is research, regardless if others see it as valuable/relevant to them. You conducted an experiment which required you to hone in the critical thinking skills and problem solving skills necessary to complete your project. I would proudly consider this as research in the AADSAS application.

On a side note, rather than discussing the goal of your experiment (it'll look like you're defending it), you want to discuss what you learned when engaging in research as a critical thinker, which I believe, many people can respect you for.👍

Thank you for the advice! This is good to hear.

I agree that research is research...keep in mind that most schools are primarily evaluating applicants on 1) gpa 2) dat 3) extracurriculars like research with #3 carrying less weight than the first 2

I'm sure some schools would strongly prefer that applicants have published clinical research (harvard comes to mind) but most schools just want to see that you have done some research...
