actually, let me elaborate. in my vandy essay, i put references and everything, but i made sure to write it in such a way that it was both specific and scientific, yet understandable by a regular md. summary sentences/clarifying terms/etc. are especially useful there.
my guess is a mix of mds and phds will read these essays.
