Research that makes sense for dual applying Anesthesia and IM

Would anesthesia/pain research be suspicious to IM programs?

Was wondering if research in other fields would be more suited for dual applying. Things that come to mind are cardiac or pulmonary research.

You can't worry about minutiae like this (especially as an apparent incoming MS1). Do the best research that you can get your hands on on a topic that is interesting to you. If for some reason you wind up having to dual apply, just say that you changed your mind like a lot of students do.
