If I take a course at my school that is titled "Undergraduate Research" which is 2 credits and has the description "Students will carry out a research project with direction from a member of the faculty."

Would this count as genuine research, or just as a class I took in undergraduate? There are no set class times, and it just says 8 hours per week need to be devoted to research.

If it looks like a duck and quacks like a duck.

It's research with credit. The only better way to do research is to get paid for it 🙂

Maybe not genius research but research. 🙂 The best thing about these classes is being able to network with professors who are doing cool research.

I would say it's research, getting the class credit for it is just a plus.
