Does research take the whole summer time? So if my school ends in May, will I be in research until August?
Thanks.

It takes as long as your project needs

Does anyone know if getting paid is part of a summer research project in most dental schools? I want to know b/c I want to shave off a few thousand from the student loan thing after I start school this fall.

Yeah i'm getting paid. But honestly if you just do research in the summer don't expect a whole lot out of it. Most projects take significantly longer.

The amount of money you make in research depends largely upon the funding your boss receives via grants. Research takes a LOT of time. I had a required "summer" research project to gain my B.S. My project started right at the tail end of May and wasn't concluded until the late part of October, just to give you an idea. There are so many variables when conducting experiments that when something goes awry, it takes time to produce the desired result (if at all). The experience is good, though.

i'm sure each project varies in length..

i have an opportunity to do research this fall, but i don't know if i should accept it.

i want to hear from 1st year students that are doing research... is the first year curriculum workload (assuming it's somewhat similar at most schools) and research combine too overwhelming?
