Hi
I am an IMG doing research in radiology(1.5 year so far). I applied for radiology residency this year. I got reasonable amount of interviews for preliminary or transitional year but not that much for radiology. My chance to get matched in radiology is low and I have to consider next year match.

I have to decide between going to 1 year internship or continue my research? Any comment that what the best approach is? which one increases my chance for radiology?

My status: Graduation 6 yrs ago, usmle 99 both)

Thanks

I would ask a few PDs on there requirements on how many years can pass between graduating medical school and entering residency. I believe that some programs have a 5-7 year cut-off.

Dude:annoyed:.....I don't understand people like you! Why would you waste half your youth trying to get into rad. Just frikin' enjoy your life or what's left of it!!!!!!!:wtf: It's just not worth it man. Forget about it all, research, applying, residency...Just start working with what you got/can get and make some money to raise your kids.

Time to get going on the intership. That may give you options for unexpected radiology vacancies as well if match next year does not work out.
