I don't think it's completely necessary, but you should have something good as backup as a significant scientific/medical/humanitarian experience.
 
If you mean just bench research - then no.

I work in clinical research now, and did research in my non-science major as an undergrad - if those count, then yes.

and I got accepted.

none here and accepted to 3 schools...hopefully 4 come may/june...
 
none for me either. 1 acceptance and waiting for 3 schools post interview
 
i think the poll will obviously show most of the people pick the first choice because im pretty sure most people on sdn have done or are currently doing research.

whats important is that we non science researchers do exist and there are quite a bit of us around even if the numbers might not show this at the end of the poll.
