Im a senior and i havent done any research for a teacher..but i have done research for a denist(while i was shaddowing him)..can i put that on my app or are they only looking for research with a professor?

whoa... research for a dentist? i'm curious as hell about what that could be.. please enlighten us about what research you did for a (general?) dentist.
 
put it in, don't put it in, it won't make any difference in your apps unless it's a major crux which you're framing your application around.

if you're just listing things in the box for extracurriculars, doesn't matter cause the schools don't really care.

Include it for sure. Last year, San Antonio told me that my lack of shadowing (I only had a little) was going to be a negetive aspect in my application. I've got 4 yrs of research experience. 2 at school and 2 at a biological foundation here in San Antonio. They still wanted the shadowing, and in my opinion, they gave experience with a dentist more weight than my research. The head of admissions for Dallas also said that he thought it was funny that some people applied to dental school without ever having shadowed a dentist... like they were getting into something they knew nothing about. Anyhow, I think it does make a diff, so include it with fury. Hehe.
