of course. it shows you know about another aspect of pharmacy. u can bring that up in your interviews. well at least it doesn't hurt

but u have to talk about them pretty well. at my interview, i had to talk about where it's located, possible implications of the research, what was done...

Hey I did/ am doing undergrad research and it is/was great - not only for pharmacy school - but it lets you think differently and lets you look at the situation from different sides (you learn to love the anomalies)- if you have the time to read all the literature (publications) and put forth an honest effort into understanding what it is that you are doing and how to get to the next step then I think you should invest the time into it. everyone should try it, its not for everyone - but I loooovvveee it and its become like my baby - my research professor gave me keys to the lab and taught me how to make all of my own reagents so I do everything 100%. - I'm getting published soon!!!!! And that looks amazing on any resume or CV!!! Try it out and see if it works for you. Good Luck

I think one should do research only if they are truly interested in doing research in the future (i.e., obtaining a PhD). I did research my sophomore year; however, I knew that I hated lab work. So, I decided to something "different." I ended up doing research on the migration on manatees in Florida and I had a blast. The professor gave me the keys to her little shack on the river and every saturday and sunday I was allowed by the state to kayak after manatees and their calfs, it was fun (not to mention, I got a ripped back from it).

It has absolutely nothing to do pharmacy; however, I'm still going to include it on my CV b/c I want to convey that I do have other interests than being stuck inside all day long analyzing data and the like.

Sounds like a real research project 😉 At my current job my only limitation on the project is the lack of funds to pay for what I want to get. Hopefully the thing will work and you will get published. my boss asked me for my middle name one day last month to put my name on a publication. What a happy moment.

thats kinda of what happened to me - except he called me at like midnight the night before one of my interviews to pharmacy school and asked me to read over his entire work and let me know as soon as possible - WWWHHHHAAAAATTTT??? - and no it has abs nothing to do with pharmacy (biophysics) - and i've been working for a year now too - and i'm a sophmore - I need a vacation

HAHA I was kind of forced back into reality during undergraduate research. My girlfriend told me it was either the dirty lab all the time or her. I had to sneak to do my work.

Now I do it as a job so at least I can't be accused of hiding away from anyone.
