I am new on this forum and looking to apply for Fall of 2008, but I figured actual podiatry students would know more on this. I am privileged in one of my classes to write and discuss popular research in whatever my interests. 😀 I am wanting to know what is the hot topic in podiatric research? and where might I find related articles? I know of one journal, JAPMA, are there any other journals that cover topics in podiatry?

Thanks for your help

there are always several hot topics in podiatric medicine.

Look up your topics in pubmed for complete literature review

The specific Journals for podiatric medicine and foot and ankle surgery are...

Journal of Foot and Ankle Surgery
Clinics Of Podiatric Medicine and Surgery
Clinics of Foot and Ankle Surgery
Foot and Ankle International
Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery American
Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery British
JAPMA (as you already mentioned)

And there are other journals that have topics related like Diabetes, Vascular, Dermatology....

Some topics you may be interested in...
1. bone healing and things that affect it i.e. drugs, diseases, hardware....

2. diabetic ulcers - endless topics

3. soft tissue tumors of the foot

4. bone tumors

Since you will be doing a literature review (I think) you want to pick a topic that 1st you are interested in and 2nd that has enough literature to review.

I hope this helps.

Thank you for all your help, you gave me a ton of great information 🙂

krabmas gave great suggestions here.

The surgery or neoplasm topics might be a little over your head since you don't know the anatomy or pathology nomenclature yet, but a topic like flora colonizing diabetic ulcers would be great if you've taken microbiology. You could probably also understand bone healing if you've taken cell bio or would have a good grasp on diabetes' systemic effects if you did well in biochem and physio. Good luck...
