Greetings, all. Please forgive me if this is not an appropriate forum to ask this.
I have an infant daughter, three months old, who had a bleed in the first two days, most likely from an AVM. We are weighing differing opinions as far as treatment. We think there is a likelihood of a second AVM, and would like to pursue an angiogram. This would allow us to embolize it for stability, and move her to surgery for resection.
My question is how to go about researching such a specific procedure. What resources are available to find out who is the best person to resect an AVM in an infant? Are there databases of statistics, to find out who treats AVMs in infants, specifically with angiogram and likely resection?
Medicine is not my field, so I just don't know where to begin. My insurance company carries a rating search engine, but the most specific is pediatric craniotomy.
I would really appreciate any help. The sooner I can get any information, the sooner we can pursue an appointment. It seems to me that time is critical, since she has a history of a bleed already.
Thanks.
