Any general advice for an incoming neuro resident?
Matched at a Midwest program, large residency class and very large patient volume. Open to going to fellowship or practicing as a generalist.
Not particularly interested in academics, honestly just want to learn as much as I can during residency so I can be a good clinician…
 
Read continuum. A lot. Including older issues.
Look at all of the images of the patients you see. Keep an open mind for subspecialty and realize there is potential for a lot of influence on possible subspecialties from senior residents and what they deem “cool” or not. Keep in mind many people may denigrate “harder” specialties partly because their discomfort with the subject matter.
