What would you guys say is the average number of 24 hour calls for each PG year? I am interested to see how my program compares.

I don't know averages, but I know for my program it's something like:
PGY-1 = 15
PGY-2 = 45
PGY-3 = 6 buddy calls with the PGY-1s
PGY-4 = 0

(edit: oh you said 24 hour calls? Well PGY-1s can't do any as they're limited to 16 hours. But I think my above answer is actually what you want.)

At my program it's basically around the same number for PGY2, and zero for every other year.

WE do mostly a combination of long weekend(15hr) and short weekdays(6hr) calls, except for PGY4,with no call the 6months you are on medicine. So PGY=12 long, PGY2=24 long and 24 short, PGY3=12 Long and 36 short.
PGY4=4 24hr calls.

PGY1: (outside of medicine/neuro) 4-5 weeks of night float (14 hr shift 5x/week for two weeks), periodic weekend shifts (1-2/month)
PGY2: ~25 24hr calls first six months, then a weekend shift ~2x/month second six months
PGY3: 24hr call ~2 weeks for the first 6 months, then no call.
PGY4: No call.

Starting night float again tomorrow night. Envious of texasphysician.
