residency difference?

What is the difference between an osteopathic anesthesiology residency and an allopathic anesthesiology residency?? besides the obvious. thanks.

I think the biggest difference is the setting at which you will complete the 3 or 4 years. DO hospitals with anesthesia programs are usually small and are in community type hospitals. This means that you will be shipped out a lot to do certain rotations like hearts, neuro etc. I did not do any anesthesia rotations at a DO program but we have one affiliated with our school and I know for a fact that the hospital doesn't do hearts and it is not a level I trauma center. Didactics are different from program to program so I think it would be hard to compare in this category. I am pretty sure that this has been discussed before. Just do a search.

Good point, but this is also true for a fair number of ACGME programs as well.
