Hey everyone.

Does anyone know how the education in Emergency Medicine residency is set up? Do you spend all your time in the ED for the 3-4 years, or do you rotate around different services in the hospital with some ED time on the side. Any responses/links would be appreciated...haven't found much on it in previous posts.

Depends on the program but for the most part...

you spend about half the first year in the ED and half doing "off-service" rotations. As you advance you might spend a greater proportion in the ED.

Check out www.saem.org then the residency catalog for links to every program's webpage. They usually spell their curriculum out exactly.
