i will start NYCPM in the fall and i am a canadian citizen. i was wondering if there are any opportunities of residency for podiatrists in canada after graduating from the DPM program. if yes, where are they located and how hard it is to get them

As of right now there is only 1 residency in Canada. It is in BC. It is a VGH residency. 1 spot per year. It is a 2 year residency and is currently under some sort of probation. The spot is only open to Canadian grads. Since it is a 2 year and in BC (most students are from Ont) I dont think there is a lot of competition for it. In fact I have heard that there have been years when the spot goes unfilled, but I have no proof of this. BY the time you graduate this one might not even be around (but it certainly could be as well), there may be other residencies that open up. Ontario and Alberta may have something for you by then.
