I'm trying to plan a weekly longitudinal elective that's required by my medical school and, in order to fulfill the six month requirement, I can't miss too many days by going to interviews. I need to pick a half-day a week which is unlikely to fall on interview days (or day before interviews which I might need to travel).

typically can occur ANY day of the week monday through friday (even saturday with some of the subspecialties).

some programs used fixed days, others used fixed dates. you can scan the program recruitment sites to see if there's any info.

Well if you're applying to a specialty with many seats, chances are there will be many interview dates offered and should have a problem arranging your schedule. But if you're applying to something like Ophtho, you're only given 3-4 days to choose from, many of which may conflict with other interviews and so you're out of luck.

very few programs interview on Sundays. Many like to choose Thurs/Fri/Sat.

I applied for peds -- some interviewed Monday-Friday, some only interviewed on 2 days/week. I tried to schedule mine on Mondays or Fridays. Wednesday may be best.

M-F should work fine at many programs. Some programs will state that they don't schedule interviews on a certain such as a Thursday for whatever reason. Weekend interviews are something I've never come across.
