i am quite new to this forum but i do have a question :

i have done medical school and dental school in germany and now i would like to start a residency program in OMS.

concerning the USMLES and DENT exams , i have passed all of them .

how can i apply for a program in OMS ? is possible for an international graduate to get into such a program ?

since i do already have a md. and dmd. should i rather apply for a 4 year program than the 6 year program in OMS?

😕

thanks for any information!

I am on the same boat. As international graduate it is very hard but not impossible to get staight to OMS, in the meantime start residency in Germany. Consider Advanced Standing program for International dentists and than the doors should be more opend to OMS. What are your scores on USMLE Part1 and NBDE Part 1?

hi ,

as fas as i remember :

about 94 in USLME and about 90 in the Dental .

i have further more an master of science from a french university and a PHD .

well this all i can offer but still it is not enough i guess.
😳

Hi, I´m not in the US, but am training in OMS in Scandinavia.

One of my fellow trainees has been in the US as an "exchange trainee" for 3 months and another one in Germany (Stuttgart). From their tellings I would say that since you allready have an MD degree you will probably not get a better training in the US then you´ll get back home in Germany. There are excellent programs in both countries.

But maybe that´s not what you´re after. It makes sense to train in the US if you plan on staying there afterwards. If you however plan on returning to Germany, I would make very sure you´ll get your US training accepted there. The EU countries can be difficult when it comes to accepting foreign training.

Exactly, it depends on if you want to just train in OMS and than go back home or you want to live in US for a longer period of time.

Hi
you dont need to apply for a 6 year program,no need to repeat med school your MD is fully recognized here however you need to at least 1 year of general surgery internship to be able to obtain a medical license.so in essence you may end up doing 5 years.people have come from OMFS in the EU and gone through this route.
call up program directors and tell them about your unique experience before PASS,some programs are foreign omfs friendly.your stats are amazing and i see you matching into a program.
if you dont mind me asking, could you tell us what OMFS training in germany is like? how many years of med school did you do? is it integrated as it is here? was your Phd after med school? and how long did it take.

based on US calculation a DDS + MD +Phd will take at least 12 years after college and now you wanna go for another 6 years,i really really admire you.
please share with us
thanks
