residency?

So, I heard from 2 dentists that they thought a year of residency is required for all dental students, is this true????? I didn't think it was but after hearing the same thing for the second time, i'm not too sure anymore...
 
If you want to practice in NY or Delaware after school without working for some time in another state first, then yes, it's required. All other states don't require a residency, though some like California, let you do a GPR/AEGD in lieu of taking the board exam.

No not true. Although in a few states completion of a residency may satisfy the requirement for initial licensure.
