Can a dentist start to practice right after dental school, or do you have to complete a residency?

You can practice right away after you graduate, taking into account you have your license. But, most people do a year or two of residency in a hospital to get more experience.

I think New York state requires a one year General residency.

I know NY requires it. But I think you can be exempt from it if you've been practicing in another state for 5 years.

i confirm NYS requires 1 year of general residency to practice. this is the first i'm hearing of the practicing for 5 years in another state thing but it makes sense
