my parents are divorced and one lives in cali and the other in jersey, how do schools determine in-state status for applicants..would i have a dual residency? one of them relocated in the last 6 months, does that even count as being a resident for me? thanks in advance

My parents are in the process of moving to South Carolina (from Michigan.)
While I was applying, my mom lived down there and my dad stil lived in Mich, so on my app. I had to put their addresses down as different. So, in like October, Umich. sent me this letter saying I was being considered an out of state applicant even though I'd lived in Mich. my whole life. I ended up getting it straightened up, but it was a pain in the @$$ and it delayed my app. even more. I think as long as you still live in the state you are applying to, you are gonna be considered an instate resident. You might want to call the school you are applying to in that state just to make sure so you don't have to go through anything like I did. Best of luck. -peace
