I feel like a Resident Bill of Rights is just a more verbose "ok boomer".

"Back in my day we worked 140 hours a week and the learning was unparalleled!"

"...ok boomer"

While I agree that med school and residency doesn't have to be as hard as it is, something has to give. If you are working more humane hours, the training may need to be extended. I think Gladwell's 10,000 hours to be an expert is probably true. Graduation based on competency (as opposed to duration+competency), may be a way to meet in the middle. I hear stories about newer surgery residents coming out of training feeling really nervous being on their own. Granted, I've only heard it from old school surgery attendings who like to talk about how ****ty their training was as a badge of honor.

Also, I feel like some med students these days are really soft?

Thought this thread would be more on the lines of R3s/R4s coming to grips with the looming disaster. Any stories on people jumping ship to IM or other yet? :/

Exactly. Be careful what you wish for here... It is unlikely you will receive what you want unless residency is prolonged.
