I have worked in a chain pharmacy for almost 3 months. But I can't stand the attitude of employee there anymore. I gave the resignation letter(2 week notice) to my manager 2 weeks ago but he refused to take it. He said give it one more try. But I still want to quit the job.
Do I need to give him another letter?
Or does the old one still counts even if he refuse to take it?

Thank you!!

To be on the safe side, yes.

Give him one more letter simply specifying what your last day will be (2 weeks from the day you hand it in). Thank him for the opportunity he gave you and tell him you look forward to working with him again. No need for reasons, explaining, excuses, etc...

Pharmacy is a very, very small world and word does get around. You've already got a bit of a black mark having a job for only 3 months & I'm guessing he was trying to fix not just "things", but also allow you to extend your employement history. So, no point in burning bridges!

Good luck!

totally agree with above poster

did you employer try to fix things? accomodate your needs?

if he was flat out lazy about it and brushed you off, then toss in the 2 weeks........again

if he is trying to help you out, have a talk with him and tell him things are not changing.........

this sounds like that seinfeld episode where george wanted to break up with his girlfriend but she wouldn't let him

wow I was thinking the exact same thing. Always helps to see things from a Seinfeld philosophy...

If you've given the job another college try, then another letter is appropriate.

PG is correct that it's a small world, so if you're worried about a black mark find a job that suits your education or employment needs (i.e. this is the field I want to work in or this pays more then the old one) and give the current boss an ending day (as an exboss preferably before the schedule is made 😉 ).

Be prepared for the "I see your stayed at your previous job for only 3 months, tell me about why you left." questions.

what do u mean...can't stand? What do they do that is so horrible?

If this is one employee, ask for a transfer....

Do I have to report my 3-month work history on my resume? 😕

Do I have to report my 3-month work history on my resume? 😕

I'll respond as my previous "self" - you'll either have to report your 3 month work history or your 3 month lack of work history.

So - you have to think long and hard about what you'd say.

Try to take a step back & think about what part you might have played in the problem. Each of us has one I think.

Now, with that in mind, formulate what you might say. Placing blame of people or a particular employer situation never looks good. Even if you just were treated poorly and responded in kind, try to make it sound as though it were just a bad "fit".....for many reasons.

Good luck & really think about what your expectations are, what you can realistically expect, etc...

I been with my pharmacy as a tech for a year and quit on them. Only reason I ever stayed is because some of my workers are cool. I love my night pharmacists and one who was my teacher in 3rd grade she is the closest thing to a mother I have ever had. Before I even started with the job I told t hem as long as this job does not interfere with my school I have no problem with it. They said they were very flexible about school and our grades reflect their company as well. I started off on the day shift. Now I'm on graveyards.

Our location is really, not pretty bad period. It's just the customer's we get. We are one of the most profitable in our chain/region, but we can not keep techs, nor can we keep pharmacy managers at all. Within the year this is our 5th pharmacy manager and I have seen techs come and go. When I first started I had people stay because all I do is goof off while doing my job correctly and efficiently. It just helps reduce our stress levels, all the techs that I have seen leave I still keep in contact with. Because of recent events, most of them have all already talked to their pharmacy and store manager, and some of the hospitals want me to come work for them just because I either volunteered at some of them or somehow I'm still able to do my job while acting stupid, you can interpret this however you want, I care not.

One of our pharmacists stepped up to become a pharmacy manager, I was like o man because we were about to lose someone good, or he was going to start being a dick to me. He always has been a ass to me but he will also admit I am a good worker. I already work hard, faster, better, more effeciently, and know more then many of the senior techs. Just not more then the ones that have been there 10 years +. And he has always been a dick to me and always ask what am I doing, none of my other pharmacists never ask what I am doing because I am always trying to do something or think of something that can help us run better. Which some of my stuff that I came up with is still used same as the stuff with my night pharmacist. He has been pushing it for a while because I do not work slow. Some things take time to do and things have to be done correctly period.
I have always had my stuff done period very rarely have I left anything unfinished. He has been irrational about things. period.

I let them know that my school and grades will always come first before my job before I even joined but I still take my job very seriously. I have always taken all bs they've thrown at me because I was just gonna do my job and leave all attitude at the door. See if you already have a long list of duties to do a fast pharmacist who also helps me incase I don't get anything done or so i can study if I need to. He does not think rationally when it comes to night shift period. He thinks we dont do anything at night. Our store get alot of crackheads who won't leave, people never want to go to sleep, people always want to call at night. When there is no other guy there, I deal with all the crazy people, even though I'm one of them. If we already have a heavy workload period, plus filling 300 prescriptions normally at least 80% are new, sometimes the day shift never touches our order and leaves the place a mess. Sometimes its just a shame that grown people can't clean up after themselves. even though they didn't do **** period, looking at the statistics of how many they filled and the times they were dropped off put in even rx's sold and I know who the strong techs and I know they could have done something. Now Imagine a bad day, bunch of crackheads, filling our parata and all 300 of those rx's, bunch of consults, bunch of phone calls, we are in the middle of all the er's and in the middle of every other city plus we are a 24/7 pharmacy.all that About 32 big totes of rx meds to manually check in and account for and put up and alot of little side duties, like count on hand quantity of drugs, deletions of the hundreds of people who don't ever pick their **** up. On a weekly basis, I'd say I delete about between 1200-3000 rx. It varies because sometimes alot of them are just **** people delete out the systems because customer don't want and they are too lazy to pull it out of the bin. Now this is an extreme workload. They leave the place looking like hell. Sometimes we get everything done, depends if we feel like killing ourself. Now if you leave us like this everyday, do not expect everything to get done. We always clean up their **** ups and the list continues. But our pharm manager and everyone's like we don't want to hear no excuses and corporate will not take excuses so they say, we've been fed up with it for a while. My night pharmacists know I will say something and be a smartass to him, but has always prevented by me. Well yesterday he crossed the line, and today he even pushed it further. My shifts originally ended at 7 because that is what I agreed on. But the sr techs are always late, etc etc they have all kinds of excuses, and they changed it to 7:30 without informing or asking me. I didn't say anything. My classes start at 8 I always barely make it on time. Day 1 and day 2 are going to be labeled the day he crossed the line. Day 1: I have a final, I made him fully aware I have a final. I finished most of my stuff, but did not get everything done. 7:30 time to go, we can not go over on the clock because we get written up even for one minute. I already was over because of him and I needed to go because I have a final. He called to me and said Phat come here I have to tell you something. Remember this job and company says school>work, but both should be a priority. We all know how important finals are. I was like any other day not today I have finals. I walked out, he was like Phat COME HERE NOW. I walked back in and my pharmacist told me don't worry about it. He wanted to tell me something, I was like skip the explanation for later and show me now. He took his time and explained and then showed. and then said now go take your final. I was mad too. I was even more mad when I got to the final Late because of him. My teacher was like why the **** are you late and especially on the day of the final are you ****ing stupid. I did good on the final, my teacher hate's walgreens, and also hates pharmacy technicians, so I'm screwed. i did good on my exam, but because of my tardiness, If I don't want to lose 40 points off my final exam grade, I have to do a research paper with notations, cited sources, and criticisms, 2500 words per person, Henry goddard, sigmund freud, and some other guy. Now I'm stuck doing this because of my pharm manager or I could lose a whole letter grade. I lose half my study time because of this paper at least and I still have more finals to take. And I also had a final on day 2 that he crossed the line. He knew that as well. I brought my books and stuff left it in a corner so that I could study during lunch, because I did not want to waste time walking to my car after I punch out for lunch. I needed to study. During lunch time, he goes and bug me and prevents me from studying. I told him to leave me the **** alone so i can study. Lunch is over I didn't get a chance to study. Now I already had an issue with the day 2 final, because I had a coworker the persistant want to save your life people that are always wanting to convert you and a huge distraction. At first I did bad in the class. My first exam 92, my hw the co-worker lost, second exam i tried to study for but co-worker kept trying to convert me and wasted 2 study hours on one problem. so i made a 30 on the exam. 3rd exam I missed because of issues. hw for 3rd exam, I let the teacher knew I was helping co-worker ahead of time so he can learn. Guy just copied the stuff and acted like he learned it, I guess he was reading straight from the book to me. Teacher said I let him cheat or I was the one who cheated. Co-worker drops class. I explained to the teacher all of this after a couple of days. My grades jumped from c's to 95+ grades on everything. Now finals, I didn't get a chance to study, And since i'm so stressed out I can't study and can't remember any of the stuff. I walk out during the final because I can't do good anyway being unstable. I wrote a note for him and I also e-mailed him apologizing for wasting his time and mine. All the effort to do well in class was for nothing.

I was like I'm done, I called my night pharmacist to apologize and said I'm quitting, she understood. we say our goodbyes and our love yous etc. I called dm from corporate but her cell was off and she was at a meeting. So I texted to her what happened and that I was quitting. My 3rd grade teacher does not want me to quit for her sake and as well as mine. Mainly for mine. If I quit things will get alot more hectic for her at work. And because out of my whole class from our school. out of about 300 students from k-12 only about 15 graduated high school and only 3 went to college. I'm 1 of the 3. Everyone else is married, had kids, high school drop outs, druggies, gangbangers, some disappeared, but alot dead. She does not want me to quit because before I got the job, since she hasn't heard from me since I was like 10 years old. She only heard stuff like how alot of us were, we all stayed in the same crowds, everyone around me were what was listed above. We were all trying to be thugs since elementary school, just how the community is. We were always stealing food from the lunch in class, always doing **** just to get food on the table or to get something to eat period. She doesn't want me to end up dead because If I do quit, I probably will be. At times I don't even care. I go to tell the acting store manager since the store manager is out for a while that I quit, I'm done and that I'm gone. She wants to talk I kind of see her tearing up a little, but she may just be emo cuz she is prego 🙂. I was like I'm done talking she knows about day 1 and the paper, I say I'm done now I gotta do the paper cuz of the ****ing pharm manager and go study for my exam. I chunk deuce and walk off. She screams, so You're just going to walk out on me! I stop for a sec and then continue to walk off. She pages for me to call the office, I leave and drive off. Next thing you know 3rd grade teacher or pharm whatever you want to call her now calls me, now and she wants to talk to me. I will meet with her family as soon as finals are over, otherwise I just want to be left alone.

Honestly, right now, I'm only going to go and listen to what she has to say because I love her and she cares for me, but I most likely will not even return, and if she does convince me, I'm putting my foot down and going to set the pharm manager straight.

As of right now, the teacher/mom/pharm is putting me down for personal days for being absent :meanie: lol. I'm only gonna go to listen what she has to say because she at least deserves a chance. But I'm still quitting.

But if I put my food down, I will only return under certain conditions, I'm just gonna go off on him and if he doesn't accept my terms I'll walk out.
No ands ifs or buts about it.

Now there are times I really need to get some serious study in so I kill myself and work really hard and really fast that I'm to the brink of exhaustion but everything is done. I believe If I am able to finish early no matter what bs is thrown at me and everything I mean everything all of our duties as well and even cleaned up the pharmacy I should be able to study. So does my pharmacist, If I'm busting my ass even harder to study to get good grades or if I finish everything I should be able to study or leave early.

What He told my pharmacist before I quit was that i am not to bring my books back there, I can not study back there, and I am not to be let go early. This is coming from his ******* saying that it should only take 15 minutes to count the quantity of about a hundred drugs and some of the quantities are about 1800 tablets.

Senior technicians are always late he doesn't say anything.
Senior technicians are always calling in late. They have certain days where they always call in sick. Some people have like a title for their coincidences, for examp *name* infamous friday sick days which is like 2x a month. The sr techs are also always calling in saying things like my child is sick so I can't come to work etc etc. He has a understanding for that , And its soo often. Like every other day someone is calling in their child is sick etc. He's is like it is ok. Another tech has an exam, they leave the pharmacy completely a mess. They checked the order in but put up the really small totes. Like some of the meds are seperated breakables would go in one box and normally it does not have much it would take no longer then 5 minutes and thats taking your time. besides the 6 totes they put up and no more then 7 items in there. They leave us all the big totes about 30 of them and a couple of hundred scripts to fill. My other night pharm it goes by rotations, he said that the pharm manager left and took the tech with him because she had an exam, but leaving a big mess to clean up.

Now how is that fair, Sr techs are always late always calling in sick.
A child is a good excuse and school is not?

A child you have to take good care of because it has a life and a future

I say the same for school, It leads to one's future and life as well

I don't leave out just because i want to. I bust my ass get everything done and get some study time in, and if my pharmacist that I am working with say they can handle everything and allow me to go because I have an exam that should be fine.
