Objectives = 11
Sub Objectives ~8-10
Total comments to write per rotation, not including preceptor evals = 88-110

Would it be seriously ineffective to have a one page critique instead?

That doesn't seem like enough, mine are usually 26-34 pages

I am thankful to have gone to a program that did not use Resitrak...but now have to fill it out as a preceptor.

I'm jealous! I spend so much time filling out Resitrak on a monthly basis. I understand it's necessary to have a system in place to evaluation both the resident and preceptor. However, it gets a little out of control. It's really unnecessary to have 30+ pages for each rotation.

I have a question in regard to ResiTrak...

Does ASHP require a resident to get a certain amount of "Achieved"'s in order to complete their certificate? I dont see any proof of that and I'm not experiencing any of that, I am just curious to be honest.

or is it just left up to the program on how they are to use ResiTrak?

Thanks in advanced!

It probably depends on the site, but my guess is that if a resident doesn't get a certain number of "Achieved"s then they would fail the rotation and not get a certificate until they repeat the rotation successfully.

While residents and most preceptors hate it..........

When you are a Program Director, you learn to make it your friend.

Makes life a lot easier for your site surveys, esp if you stay on top of things like you should year-round.

Honestly, part of the problem is that most preceptors could really narrow down the goals that they evaluate on (or if it is the RPD dictating to the preceptor, then the RPD should look into this.)

FOr my rotation, my eval for PGY-1s are 5 pages.

For my PGY-2s in my specialty are 8 pages.

For PGY-2s outside my specialty - they are 5-6 pages.

The "fault" if you want to call it that, isn't with Resitrak itself per se.

If you have 30 pages per rotation, then your site didn't put much though into setting up your evals... I don't teach/evaluate everything on my rotation. As a preceptor, I have the ability in Resitrak to pick and choose the objectives I want to "teach" or "teach and evaluate." My rotation is about 8 pages.

I think my PGY-2 director hated me. 36 pages per rotation. Both midpoint and end of rotation evals. (that totally autocorrected to evils lol)

More than likely it's one or more of the following:

1) Your RPD is relatively new

2) is anal-retentive

3) is in academia, not adjunct faculty, but in academia.

I'm going to guess either 1 and/or 2
