Hi all,

I'm an MS4 about to start a cards inpatient/CCU elective and would like to be well-prepared before I start. Are there any student-oriented textbooks or articles you all could suggest for me to read?

Thanks

Hi Apply Pressure,

I am a M4 on Cardiac ICU rotation currently, and I find the Little ICU book by Marino very helpful. The chapters are succinct and yet full of ref numbers, hemodynamic parameters and information for the management of critical cardiac patients. It will be also helpful to have a good handle on EKG reading. If you can read up on vasopressors, sedative drugs and paralytics. And also cardiology pharmacology. Good luck. I really enjoy Cardiac ICU although at times I come across patients with multiple issues and have no idea where to begin with management. This rotation really confirmed my decision to go into Internal Medicine. 😀
