Hello Everyone,

I was recently lucky enough to receive an offer for a merit scholarship at one of the schools I am considering. The email requests that I 'respond to the offer as soon as possible'. I have a couple of questions about this process:

1. Is accepting the offer the same as committing to the school?
2. Should I wait to hear back about aid from other schools before responding to this offer?
3. If another school offers me more money, and this is my top choice, will I still be able to negotiate aid AFTER accepting the offer, or will I have ended my chances for negotiation?

Thanks!

I'm not the authority on this but: 1) No. 2) No. 3) No.
At least that's the impression I've been under with my scholarships.

edit: 3) no, you will not have ended your chances at negotiation, although my understanding is that negotiating in general doesn't usually work but so much.

^ going to echo this. I called to double check at a school that gave me merit before accepting the scholarship, and they said it was not binding me to the school.
