I interviewed yesterday for a residency position, and sent a follow up "thank you" note afterwards. The resident director told me that they would be selecting their residents last night, and they would let us know sometime Wednesday-Friday this week. However, I received a response to my "thank you" note from the residency director this morning saying "thank you for your interest in our program". Is this a subtle letdown?

The program got accepted to said just about the same exact thing. It's the politically correct response, and in my opinion has no subtle connotation.
