Lets talk about Resurrection in North Chicago. I think this program is pretty sweet but it gets a bad rap by some becuase they started in the 90's and didnt match one year due to ranking a small amount of people. I hear that the locals regard the program highly and when looking for community jobs they have no problem and actually do better than others in chicago. There has not been any reviews of their program on here longer than a few sentences. They train for the most part at 2 sites for EM. Resurrection and St. Francais (which is Trauma 1). They have alot of freedom from surgery and see alot of sick old patients. Peds is questionalble but residents are very happy. Nice hours with great teaching I hear. Has anyone really looked very closely at this program and rotated at St. Francais not just Resurrection who is willing to write a comprehensive review? It was my first interview and things are a little fuzzy and I need some help decided where they sit on my list. I am sure others out there as well could use some more info.

Just make sure you spell St.Francis correctly if you ever have to e-mail them. Also, I do believe Resurrection is located in Chicago because North Chicago is a suburb that's closer to Wisconsin than to Chicago, so put that down for address if you have to use surface mail to contact them.

Just wondering if any current or former residents would mind sharing what part of town they live and how long their commute to Resurrection and/or St. Francis is as I'll be starting there in the next couple of months

I'm in a student rotation at St Francis now, and my school is in North Chicago not far from Resurrection. All I can say is, even if those two places are 30-some miles apart on a map, but in Chicago commuting terms, that's about an hour. Living in Wilmette or Kenilworth might make things easier, but I'm afraid I am ignorant of housing costs etc.

Thanks Febrifube. I know CMS is in North Chicago but I was referring to the Resurrection on Talcott ave in the NW part of Chicago. Is there another resurrection up in North Chicago?

Ah -- I see the confusion. The OP said "Resurrection in North Chicago," but in fact it's in the northern part of Chicago. As a visitor to this strange land, this is a mistake I used to make all the time. I don't think there is another Resurrection, but there is a hospital system by that name. The hospital up in the North Chicago/ Waukegan region is... something else religious, I'm afraid I don't recall. It may be associated with it, or maybe not.

Wow, I'm super-helpful today. Sorry.
