Hey guys,

I had a question for ya about resurrection in chicago. I am really interested in the program mainly because of how awesome the people are, location and the perks(lots of free food, conference trips, Christmas bonus,$1250 for book money, pool in the hospital ect). I am a long time poster using a new account to conceal my identity and did a few searches but was surprised that there isn’t much discussion on the program.

I am a little uncomfortable of the program mainly because it is a community program with no other residency in the hospital except TY. I don’t want the off service rotations to consist of me tracking down differenct attendings all day without being involved in pt care(ie “let me go read the attending’s orders for today to see what the plan is”). I am also a little concerned about the main training hospital being a level 2. I don’t get my jollies off trauma, but does the level 2 status affect transport of critically ill medical pts? Lastly, does anyone know how getting a job post residency varies if you are coming from a community program.

I really want to rank this program number 1 but I don’t want the happiness/perk factor to overcome the solid training factor. Any input welcomed

PS If it helps, im also considering Temple, Univ of Virg, Jefferson, highly

This reminds me of the thread titled "oral" a few weeks back. I thought this was going to be about Jesus and such 😀

Imagine how saddened my family was when I received a rejection letter from Christ (in Chicago).

It's kinda a small ED. They do see some cool things since they catch everything coming from OHare. You can do an away elective... a lot of the residents have done international electives.

At St Francis Hospital (the secondary site for the Resurrection EM Residency Program), there are a number of residency training programs other than EM including IM, TY, Gen Surg, Rad, OB...

Hey EM people,

I was just wondering if anyone out there has any info/opinions about resurrection. I'd never heard of it before I applied, but was totally sold on it during my interview. Though since I've never heard of it before (I'm not from and don't go to med school anywhere near Chicago), I'm just a little wary of ranking it really high (especially above so-called 'big name' programs, which I'm leaning towards doing). So any help from people more in the know than me would be appreciated. Thanks! 🙂

cliche but go with your gut and what makes you happy. personally id rather go to a community hospital and love it than go to harvard and hate it ya know.
