I was wandering if you could work full time at a retail pharmacy while also doing per diem at an outpatient setting at a hospital or Kaiser for example? is that still a conflict of interest? I wasn't sure that if I wanted to do per diem on the side that it had to be completely different like inpatient, long-term care setting, or insurance for example. I want to earn more cash on side but I don't want to get in trouble with my current job thanks.

Yes why is this question so common here? If your full time employer find out then you can be terminated, it's up to you if you want to take that risk. I don't know why anyone would, I would just get an inpatient per diem.

If the job is a direct competitor with your current job, then you would be fired. An outpatient hospital pharmacy, or an in-house pharmacy like Kaiser, are direct competitors, because the people using these services could use any retail pharmacy services. If you want a 2nd job, it has to be in a non-competing place of employment.

in a previous life (and an area that was desperate for RPhs) I did this, I worked for a staffing agency and Osco - I often worked across the street from my home store. That being said, I asked my DM and got it in writing it was OK - he didn't have an issue - now days things might be very different thou
