Retake a C?

I got a C in bio 101 my freshman year but since then I've taken upper level courses and did well in them. Since I graduated, I am planning on retaking BIO 101 to improve my BCP gpa at a CC closer to me(financially it's better for me). I am also taking another upper level bio course but there are no more upper-level courses that are offered that I haven't taken already. Is that okay?

I'd be cautious, you should only retake a course if you can guarantee you can get an A in it. Remember that they'll still count the original course grade, so at best it average out to a B.

Not worth your time, if you already passed. It won't hurt your application (assuming you actually get an A) but it won't help either. Getting an A when retaking a course is expected and often doable by almost anybody, so you are not impressing adcoms by doing so. If you want to improve your GPA, they want to see you doing so with upper level courses.

I am taking 2 upper level as well (A&P 1 and pharmacology) but by taking bio 101 in addition to those, my sGPA will go from 3.26 to 3.3. I was thinking that would make a difference? Otherwise, I am going to update my grade after I take Anatomy and Phis 2 later this summer?

I wouldn't. A C isn't the end of the world. Very small effect in my opinion.

That's what I was thinking but if my sGPA will change from 3.26 to a 3.30, is it still not worth it?

That's if you get an A, if you somehow end up getting a B, it will end up lowering your GPA. I don't think it's worth the risk. You're taking two fairly difficult upper division classes, I would focus on getting A's in those instead. Even if you've already learned the material in the 101 class, just going to class will take up time, as well as some amount of studying that you'd have to do to review the material will only take away from your doing well in the two hard classes.

are you taking these upper level courses at a CC? just keep in mind that there are schools that don't accept CC credits at all and some that accepted a certain number when your applying. Also I wouldn't retake, focus your energy on getting an A in A&P and pharmacology

Tufts (I strongly believe, one of the East Coast private schools, correct me if I’m wrong) doesn’t accept CC’s. Additionally, a C doesn’t require a retake, (whereas a C- might, depending on the school).

Personally I received a handful of C’s and I still got 3 acceptances, and I wasn’t questioned about it in any of my interviews. So I wouldn’t worry about it

That gives me hope! Tufts actually doesn't accept any pre-reqs from CC but A&P and pham aren't pre-req.
