Retake DAT?? Going for Master's

Hey guys,

I applied this cycle and didn't get in
I have a 3.30 cGPA 3.20 sGPA with 19AA 20TS 22PAT.

I had a 3.62 from CC and 3.14 from the transferred institution (downward).
WIth my RC score being 16 and QR 17, should I re-take my DAT?

I'm planning on to pull off a kickass GPA during master's program hopefully 3.8+
with that, do you guys think it's necessary to re-take my DAT?
Studying for DAT was a nightmare...but I will re-take if it is needed.

I think the best thing to do right now is to call most if not all of the schools you are interested in and get their opinions. Some schools don't care about QRs as much, but I feel like most schools don't like to see a low RC.

Yes u need to retake DAT! I know that it took a lot of hard work the 1st time, but now you gotta do it again? The answer is YES. I was in a similar situation as you (1st DAT: 19AA 20TS "16RC") but after reading several post online and listening to different onions from friends, family & teachers. I decided to retake, although my 1st scores aren't too shabby, to say the least. But, try to improve your DAT scores (especially in areas where u did not do well) this time and makes your studying time worth. Dental schools will take notice at your effort and grant you an interview or two or three....

i have one so far at MOSDOH and two holds. and like 15 rejections lol

When is your interview at MOSDOH? It only takes 1 school for acceptance and you will not have to take the DAT again. Perhaps you should wait until after your interview and if you do not get an acceptance from MOSDOH, you may not have a choice put to retake the DAT. Your science scores were good but with your 3.2 SGPA a higher DAT score may be required to make you a more competitive applicant. Schools will look favorably at your Master's program and your potential for 3.8 GPA, this shows hard work, dedication and a true desire to succeed..

But one thing I REALLY REALLY did not like is how the school is located in middle of nowhere, especially when me and my girlfriend is already dating long distance (500 mi away). But if I go MOSDOH we will be about 1400 mi away.
Biggest dilemma lol.

You won't have time to dedicate to anything but studying the first 2 years of dental school..It will be VERY time consuming, so being in the middle of nowhere might be a blessing in disguise. IF you get accepted go for it and begin the journey to becoming a Doctor because that's your main goal.
