retake DAT

If you got a 20 on the DAT and didn't get accepted would you retake it?

a 20 is a great score. I got a 20 AA. What is the lowest score on your DAT and in which section? also, what does the GPA look like

20 AA
15 Bio
29 GenC
20 OrgC
19 RC
18 Quant
18 PAT
18 TS
3.65 Science GPA
3.72 BCP

18 TS
3.65 Science GPA
3.72 BCP

That Bio score is definitely a red flag. That's the worst section to get a low score.

A balanced 20 is always better than a fluctuating one. All other factors cast aside, I'd say that the 15 is probably weighing you down, especially its being Bio. I'd suggest retaking the test.

no! unless you got like a 13 in the math or some other one category. There is a significant chance you may do worse!! 20 is competitive, take a long look at the rest of your application to see what may be making you LESS than competitive. Remember dental schools get THOUSANDS of applications for roughly 40-140 spots so they are looking for someone that is UNIQUE, if you have a prototypical application... THAT may be holding you back, NOT your DAT scores. Remember EVERYONE has a relative that is a dentist and has done dental assisting, everyone has done dozens of hours of shadowing, everyone has done some tutoring or something for community service. Find something that you can do that makes you the ONLY one in a big pile of apps that is unique. If you don't get in this year APPLY EARLY NEXT YEAR!!!

forget my first post, you bombed the bio part, and that is ALL that dental school is... Anatomy, Physiology, biochemistry etc. You HAVE to get up that BIO score everything else is dandy and your G Chem is amazing!! It would hurt to get that PAT up to 20 as a minimum. I suggest DAT Achiever for the PAT (the whole test for that matter), whatever score you get on their test it will be 4-6 points higher on the real day. I was averaging a 15 on their PAT and I got a 20... both times I took it. Although it wouldn't hurt to make yourself a unique candidate as well.

lol @ bbakersc

i agree with the others. some schools might have minimum requirements on all sections of the DAT. for example, a school wants a minimum of at least 16 on all sections and since you got a 15 they couldnt accept you?

yes, pull bio up. your dat is consistent.....~20, and the gchem, wow. then the bio is a big heads up. a consistent 20 across the subjects would come across better than extremes that avg out to 20.
