I took the DAT last august. This is the first year i will be applying. Anyone willing to share their opinion about whether to retake. I really don't want to risk doing worse or spend 6 weeks studying all over again.

GPA: 3.49

I had kind of similar stats as yours and was invited to 4 interviews and am waitlisted on 2 of the schools, no acceptances so far. So, you do have chance depending on how's ur rest of the application. However, I do recommend you retaking the DAT. I am planning to retake this summer and reapply if I do not get in. Hope this helps and Good luck!

did you apply to your state school?

definitely retake. you're scores are not competitive. you have plenty of time. why not spend perhaps 8 weeks studying instead of 6 then... maybe that will help.

you're very encouraging. Yes, I am a minority which helps my case a little bit and my top school choice is MN.

whoa, your scores are almost identical as mine.
I also took it last summer!
I am currently in the same position right now. I've decided to retake my DAT in late august.
hmm, I think it's really hard to say if you and I are safe with those scores.
I've spoke to couple of admissions people and dental students and they all recommended killing the DAT to be safe. or at least raise a couple of points. It's because every year more people end up applying and have higher scores.

Hope you can make the right decision!
I know how crappy it is to study again for the DAT... 👎

Congrats!! I have similar stats too and I received a few interviews, although most of them wound up as waitlists. My concern is NYU? I've seen quite a few people on predents with similar scores get in, so those scores must be good enough for atleast NYU? Tell me what you guys think?

"most of them wound up as waitlists"...does that mean you were rejected or accepted from the others?

You have a chance, but I'd still retake. 6 weeks of studying again will be nothing compared to a year of anguish, waiting for a response from schools and sitting on waitlists. Plus, with a competitive GPA like yours, if you had decent DAT scores you would have so many more options choosing where to go.
