Hey guys, I could really use some advice. I am a senior in undergrad and applied to 12 d schools this year. I was offered one interview so far and I went to that on Jan 13 at Loma Linda. I haven't heard back from them yet. I applied late in the cycle, finishing AADSAS app on aug 20, and not taking the DAT until sept 19. My DAT scores were: 18 bio, 18 gc, 18 oc, 19 reading comp, 15 qr, and 24 PAT. So far I've been rejected by minn, umkc (shouldn't have applied here), atsu, midwestern, and indiana. I have yet to hear from kentucky, lousville, marquette, michigan, creighton, lsu, and loma linda (since the interview). I actually won't technically graduate until after next fall's semster due to needing a few extra credits. So my main question is whether my DAT scores have been holding me back from interviews or if it's applying too late into the cyle, or if it's my graduation status. Also, my AADSAS gpa's are: non-science 3.86, science 3.25, and total 3.53. Should I retake the DAT and risk losing the 24 PAT or should I just stay pat and get those apps in right away next cycle? Thanks so much for any advice or insight, I would REALLY appreciate it!

Obviously there are a lot of factors other than GPA and DAT to determine whether you are attractive to schools but it is getting hard to get accepted to dental school with just an 18AA. 24 on the PAT is really good but with your science GPA just being a 3.25, I would recommend retaking the DAT and shooting for a 20 if you don't hear anything from Loma Linda this year. Also as you probably know, applying early next year will also help you out. Good luck!

So, after interviewing at various schools this year, they have all said the same thing to me... which is, they don't "seriously" consider applicants unless they have at least a 19 overall... Loma linda, however, told me that they don't look at anyone that has less than a 19 in ALL areas of their DAT. Hope this helps man.

by the way... most schools really could care less about the PAT unless it's lower than a 17... But if you're SDA, that will definitely help you out when it comes to Loma Linda!

Your sci. GPA is a little below average. Try taking 2 science classes and making A's in both of them to boost that sci. GPA.
Also, you applied very late in the cycle...you need to apply at before August IMHO.
Your DAT scores are not terrific or outstanding in any way. The 24 PAT is great, but everything else is barely above average...exlcuding the poor score of 15 on QR.
My advice...you need to retake the DAT. Get everything to atleast a 20, and if you can...get that QR score up to an 18 if you can. Work hard at it, study the areas you did poorly in, and then retake the DAT. Don't give up. Also...you REALLY need to apply earlier next cycle. Waiting till Sept. is a no-no.
