I've decided I'm going to retake the DAT.
I don't really have much of a choice. Most people say October is too late, but I'm going to try anyway.

How do you mentally gear yourself to start all over again?
I'm looking at the piles and piles of notes I have....and I'm just like....:scared::scared:

Retakers- what did you do second time around? Go through it all again? Rewatch videos? Redo your notes? or just take more tests/do more problems?

I hope this helps... I had to retake the DAT TWICE!!! After I took it the first time I didn't get any interviews with my AA:18 for the second time I thought I could just brush up on the stuff and spent about 3 weeks going over my same old notes and just doing some more practice test but that was also over Christmas break so needless to say I wasn't as diligent as I should have been and I ended up with the exact same score. I think i talked my self into thinking i was ready more than studying to get ready.

When I retook it for the second time (my third time taking it) I knew it would be my last chance to show i really did know my stuff. This was two and half years since i took it for the first time and i searched all over my house high and low to try and find my old DAT notes to go over. Well the best thing that happened was that I didn't find them.

I went through the Kaplan book chapter by chapter about 2 chapters a night and i would write down anything that I didn't know cold. I mean if i even had to think about it for a second i wrote it down and tried to condense 1 chapter in kaplan down to 1 page front and back of notes. I was able to do this for most chapters. After i was done i just went to memorizing and understanding them all. Every day i would start by re-writing each page out on a white board and add another page or two each day. In the end i went in super confident and made sure i was really relaxed for my exam.

This helped me a ton and I know you can have improvement some of my scores went up as much as 9 pts from the first two tries to the last time. Don't worry about it being too late. I took the DAT on JUNE 10th 2010 and was accepted to school on June 29th 2010.

Oh and I did find my old DAT notes once I unpacked in my new house at dental school😀

keep your head up👍

forget rewatching everything. Imo, its a waste of time. Work on your weak spots- do as many q's as you can. If you have to buy like an acs chem and just keep banging out problems. The more you do the more accurate and quick you will get- the two things that you need to improve your score.
Buy crack dat math and do one everyday. etc. there are lots of good resrouces check sdn.

For bio, make flashcards if you need to- do the ap barrons book its awesome. make sure you emphasize the questions and understanding why each choice is right or wrong.
