Hey guys...here's my situation. I am going to apply for DO schools next year for 2008. Currently, I am doing a Masters in Public Health. I applied last year to mostly MD schools but didnt get in. So decided to do MPH and apply for DO later on. But I want to improve my "undergrad" GPA (had an overall 3.0 and 2.7 science)? I didnt do really well in couple of science courses (orgo, and couple of bio classes). Do you guys think I should retake those courses or should I try to take some of the advanced undergrad biology/chem courses? Would appreciate any sort of input?

P.S. I have 27 MCAT score and have decent amount of ECs.

retaking will raise that gpa more significantly. on the other hand, it may be wise to show that you can excel in higher level sciences by taking more intense classes in those subjects.

Since you are already doing the MPH and all you want to do is raise your undergraduate GPA, I would retake the classes. That is the quickest and easiest way to raise your GPA. With that and your MPH, MCAT score, and good ECS, you will be in a really good position to get accepted to DO schools. Make sure you don't wait so long to apply that your MCAT score is no longer valid. It would suck to have to retake that! Good luck with everything!:luck:
