Retake or Not?

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
Congrats on the awesome scores! I wouldn't retake, from what I've seen on here and heard, QR is the section they put the least weight on. I don't think you have anything to worry about!

Definite retake. We all know QR is the MOST important section of all. Its not like AA or RC or PAT count for much.

Check with schools you are interested in to make sure you are above their QR cutoff. Many have them at 16 so you shouldn't have any trouble. Other schools don't even care about QR and the rest is solid so you have no worries at all. Your GPA is also pretty good, but your dental experience is excellent and shows your desire for working in the field! Good luck with applications.

Don't retake...your scores are solid. Most schools rank QR as the least important (there is data to support this). Your AA and TS scores are off the charts. Don't stress yourself with a retake...especially since you're more likely to score a lower AA or TS than you are to score a higher QR.

Keep your current score, and be thankful for such a great and competitive score.

Hey guys, so Ive been coming on here basically everyday but this is my first post and I need some advice! 'm finally done with my DATs but I'm not sure if I need a retake.
QR: 17
PA: 20
RC: 24
Bio: 20
GC: 25
OC: 25
TS: 22
AA: 22
So obviously I messed up big time with QR. I just didn't study enough, and I didnt study with time in mind-- I ran out and left a couple of questions blank. But I'm happy with everything else and really dont feel like a retake just for that. A little about me: 3.6 total gpa, 3.4 science (I'm not a bio major, and the pre-med classes at my undergrad are major weed out classes. Orgo basically cut the pre-health kids in half). I have tons of shadowing, and the dentist I shadowed even offered me a paid position so now I do both assisting and work in the front. My leadership activities aren't too good, basically because I've had to work throughout college. I've volunteered at a hospital one summer (how I found out pre-med was not for me!) and I've worked on and off with one charity throughout college. Ive also been involved in a psychology study as a research assistant. So what do you guys think? What are my chances without a retake? Thanks!!

Just remember that the only reason you might not get into the school of your choice is a modest attitude.
