Hey there SDNers! I am new to this site, and I think its awesome!
Well, I took the DAT on Thursday. And I am wondering what you guys think. Do I stand a chance if I retake in December, or should I just try again next cycle? I am determined to get in one way or another.

RC: 20
QR: 13 😡 (I scored 20 on Kaplan and TS!! But, but I got so frustrated when this new person sat right next to me and had to clear his throat every 5 seconds--no exaggerrations!--sounded like he was dying!)
PAT: 16 😡
TS: 19
AA: 18

I know don't stand a chance now. I have only a 2.8 GPA.
I already sent my application too. I applied to a crap load of schools.
PS Is it best to send LOR directly to schools or AADSAS? I have read you guys are having problems with AADSAS.

I would wait and get a fresh start for next cycle. In the time you have until next cycle study your OChem and QR and ACE the test. I think if you took in December it would be way too late with your GPA unless you pull a score above a 25. Whatever you do good luck!!

Save your money and apply and take the DAT as early as possible next year. You will stand a much much much better chance of getting interviews and accceptances if you are an early applicant with high DAT scores (even if you have a low GPA). Make sure to apply to schools that don't have as high of a GPA and do anything and everything to get involved in dentistry over the next year. Make yourself look like an excellent candidate and don't let your GPA get you down. Maybe take some more science classes and do well in them too.

You've already paid AADSAS. Call up each school you applied to and get their direct opinion... all you need is having only one dental school to accept you and be addressed with Dr. "oldboy" 4 - 5 years from now. :luck:

I would finish future threads without using excuses. Everyone here has worked very hard and there are no room for lame excuses.

Sorry if someone next to you made noises, you should have asked for some ear plugs....

by then it will be dr. oldman

OKay, thanks everyone for your input. I am going to contact some schools, but I may just have to reapply next year, anyway.

One more thing. I have not sent out my committee letter yet. Can I save it for next year?
