So I received my MCAT score yesterday evening. I scored a 21 - 9v/6b/6p. This is the lowest score I got since taking practice tests and is the SAME score I received while taking a diagnostic full length before I started studying.

My question is should I retake in late August or early September, OR wait a year, enjoy myself, and reapply?

I currently have a 3.5sGPA and 3.43 cGPA. Vice president of Pre-SOMA chapter. 3000+ hours medical assistant with DO's. 2000+ hours emergency room technician all while in undergrad. Father and brother DO grads. Among other EC's

2 DO letters, 1 MD. My entire application is submitted and currently finished approximately 10 secondaries.

Would retaking put me too far behind?

My highest practice MCAT was 26, and hovered around 24-25 after taking 3 exams. All I want is 24+.

You are definitely going to have to retake it the only choice you have is when. If you believe you know the material but just didn't perform to the best of your abilities, I would retake the test in August. If you feel that you slacked off and didn't put alot of effort into it, then I would take a year off.

Your ECs are crazy. That's incredible that you accumulated so many hours! With that said... I would consider doing a retake. A 21 is really pushing it, and even though your ECs are awesome, I don't think an adcom would be able to justify your MCAT score.

It's definitely possible to get an acceptance with a 21, but I wouldn't say its probable. A retake would be in your best interest. Your GPA and ECs look good and if you focus a significant amount of time on your MCAT studies you could probably grab that 24 or, hell, even higher. Just do your best and try not to put a limit on your abilities and I think you will be surprised at what you can achieve. That said, you might want to apply next cycle to improve your chances and avoid wasting money. If you are going to retake do it on your time and when you are ready no need to rush.

I would retake if I were you. You still have time and I hope you've been studying currently.

September may be late, but if you score high then it will justify the late score.
