RETAKE Prerequisites

Hi fellow members,
I apologize if this question has been answered, I looked and could not find anything.

So here is my situation:
-I got C's in Gen. Chem I, Organic I and II, and a D in Physics I.

I was thinking of retaking Gen. Chem I and Organic I at a community college in the summer due to financial reasons, and retake the remainder courses in the year I have left in undergrad. My question is, will this cause a red flag when medical schools review my application? Is community college acceptable for prerequisite retakes? or is that frowned upon?

I have known people who had an F and got accepted, but it's really a case by case basis. I do not know when you got those grades, but if you can show growth over the years (ex.growth trend), it will surely help and would not be frown upon versus a downward trend which is a big red flag. I believe most school allow you to transfer credits, but you will have to ask them directly.

I am not worried about my undergrad school accepting credits from the CC. I am just worried that the med school committee will frown upon me retaking my prereqs at a CC.
The classes were taken my freshman and sophomore year!

Most DO schools will accept CC retakes, but look up the schools you are interested in an see if they don't accept CC courses.

Also, what would you gpa be if you did the retakes? Pulling a 2.0 to a 3.0 gpa and/or making a 495 on the MCAT won't get you over the bar. It's not smiled upon going from university to cc, but if you make straight A's, do well on the MCAT, and can discuss why not a major university if asked then you should be ok.
