Howdy all. I just got my score back from the 9/4 exam and it was abysmal (125/123/125/127). I need to retake, but I am also a current college student. I plan on taking it again in one of the early January slots and would appreciate advice on how to shift your schedule for a retake or any other advice. For reason, I have a 3.5 cpga and a 3.09 science gpa with 2 semesters of classes left so I want to have as high gpa as possible. I'm considering both MD and DO. Preciate yall.

Welcome to the forums.

Before I answer the question, why do you think a 500 is not representative of your academic preparation? You said you have a 3.1 sGPA. A high MCAT does not compensate for a low GPA; I suggest you focus on finishing strong with an upward sGPA trend. Maybe getting the right science foundation could earn you a couple of MCAT points alone. Stop rushing.

If you choose to ignore your advice, you have already touched most of the AAMC practice exams, right? Were your scores significantly higher (+10) from your official result? If so, you might need to control your testing anxiety. That would take a lot less time to prepare vs. content refresh. I don't know if you have burned through all your Anki / flashcard resources, but it sounds like you need to ramp that up. Having an accountability study team also should help.

Thank you for this. I have a couple more science classes to take and hypothetically would get sGPA up to 3.21. I am also a public health major and I have heard that public health classes count towards aacomas sgpa, but I don't know which ones. I do agree that my foundation is not where I want it to be and I need to fix that, but also I know my anxiety is there due to my low gpa so I constantly worry about not being able to do well and get into med school.
