I think your DAT score is quite good already. It is definitely a competitive score since it is in the average DAT score for at least ~75% of dental schools in the U.S. Unless you have a low GPA you are hoping to compensate for or other weaknesses in your application and are confident you will do much better, save that money for the expensive application. If you are going to retake the DAT, look critically at your past study techniques and see what you can improve on. 🙂

Those scores are very respectable. I wouldn't retake unless you have a below average GPA.

If you have a good GPA, I would absolutely not retake the test! I received almost identical scores as you and I have been accepted to three schools with 4 pre-dec and 2 post-dec interviews (declined those). If you have a good GPA, good ECs, good interviewing skills, and you can have your application shine through in these ways, you should have no problem gaining interviews and acceptances. Honestly your DAT is decent enough to get acceptances and no one ever brought up my DAT scores on interviews. It's not worth putting yourself under that much stress again to *hopefully* obtain higher scores. A retake is not a guarantee for higher grades (unless you felt you were extremely under-prepared in something else). Stop being so hard on yourself and just know that the DAT is only one component that the adcom looks at. Good luck! If you have questions, PM me! 🙂
