Hi all,
I just received my MCAT score from 1/19: 511 (129,124,127,131). Im really shocked at the CARs score because I had never scored below a 130 on any practice tests. I understand my MCAT score is very unbalanced, but I honestly want to avoid retaking unless absolutely necessary to focus on other aspects on my application.

My question is, is my MCAT (especially CARS) a red flag? I have a 3.99 from a well known B10 school and several hours of clinical and non-clinical experience. From central/southern IL if that helps.
Thank you!

511.9 is the average score for a successful US MD applicant. https://www.aamc.org/media/6076/download

A single score below 125 is not a deal-breaker as it appears that the rest of your data is strong.
A decision to re-take should take into consideration your state of residence as well as the odds that there will be a significant improvement.

Thank you for your response! I think I won’t retake as most of my dream schools have a median MCAT of a 511 and I want to focus on strengthening the rest of my application. Do you have any advice for this application cycle?
