so i took the DAT july 8th and its been a month. I have pretty much spent my entire time getting my letters from profs which stupidly I should have done a month ago, and working on my personal statement. I cant tell you how many different versions I have had on the darn thing but finally, its there, its done. From 30 pages of garbage into one final complete package, edited by professionals and friends. Most importantly, im happy with it.

Anyways, I have a gpa of 3.1. I know, its terrible and its very very close to the borderline. So I figured my personal statement had to be killer and I think it is. I did the DAT and I received a 21 AA 23 TS 22PAT. Unfortunately, I just cannot get over the fact that I got 17 in RC and 17 in QR. It is killing me. I have already posted twice trying to get sympathy votes on if I have a chance, but in the back of my mind I really do think I studied a lot harder for me to only get a 17 in both. My question is HOW HOW HOW HOW do you people somehow get 30 in RC and math. Which books did you use and what strategy worked. I am planning to spend my entire semester working on RC and QR and then during winter time pulling the ultimate throwdown of epic proportions, locking myself in my room for a month to achieve that 23 AA. If there are any specific math books out there I would like to know. If MCAT verbal reasoning helps I would like to know.

Your advice is appreciated.

Oh, and I was wondering. My entire application is ready. ONE PROF DECIDES TO DISAPPEAR FROM THE FACE OF THE EARTH. So my question is, do I wait for his letter or do I send it to aadsas who will probably take a while to send it out anyway

You want to retake to change your 21AA to a 23AA. That's madness. Your scores are very good. The QR isn't that big of a deal. I have AA:22 TS:22 PA:20 and I ended up with a 17 on QR. Am I going to retake just to bring that up to 20? Hell NO!!!
Keep in mind that nothing is guaranteed. You might retake and your scores may drop! What would you do then?
IMO you should get over it, and be happy with your scores. But the ultimate decision is yours to make.
Oh yea! You devote an entire semester to QR and RC and it will more than likely affect your performance at school, which will hurt your already low GPA. So, that's something you should think about!
Your advice is appreciated.

If you haven't submitted your application yet, I suggest you stop wasting time any further and submit ASAP. Your late application could hurt you more than your 17's.

Good Luck👍

and what about the missing prof?
Well, he either doesn't want to write the letter or he has some emergency going on. Either way, I don't think it's a good idea to delay your application any further.

Ditto to nze82. If you wait any longer to turn it in, you could get a 25AA and not have a chance to get in to many schools. People have ALREADY GONE TO SOME INTERVIEWS. Your DAT is already stellar. I would turn it in, hope that your prof turns in his letter (or find someone else), and wait for interviews. Good luck!

I really hate threads like this, like really do u actually think someone is going to sincerely say "yea i think you should retake 21/23/22 is kind of shaky" Even with 2 17's i personally believe the question your asking is stupid.

These guys are right, get your head out of the gutter and don't worry so much about that 17 in QR and RC. It will be very hard to duplicate scores like that and you don't want to risk getting a lower score. You should've sent your applications in early if your GPA is borderline. Get your application ASAP and I think you will still have interviews.

Ask another professor to write a letter for you, but submit your application now. I had the same situation with a professor all of the sudden deciding to stop responding to my e-mails and not complete my loe... it blows, I know, but get over it, ask another professor and let the schools know that your last letter will be sent witht the rest of the app shortly after.

Your dat is solid, even with a 3.1, you have extremely good odds (in my opinion).. unless the 3.1 is overall gpa and you have like a 2.5 sgpa... but assuming that's not the case, you shouldn't have much to worry about.

thanks guys. its done. i have submitted. now, what do i do about the missing prof and how does it change the process. do i have to get letters from her and send it individually to every school or is it still an electronic submission

If you're positive that she's not bailing out on you, and she is still willing to write the letters wait till she submits them. Once done, request for them to be sent to AADSAS. They will forward your letter to your designated schools once received.
I don't think missing a single LOR would delay the review of your application.
If you figure that she doesn't want to write the letter, then try to find another professor. Go to AADSAS, remove the previous professor and replace her with the new professor. Print out the LOR matching form, and send in the new letter instead.

Good luck👍
